Hai Niharika,

Here are some of the preparation tips which may help you to get good score in GATE. It is better for you to start first phase of preparation with the Basic Engineering Subjects.
You should concentrate more and have in-depth knowledge on academic books concepts, applications etc. Practicing problems on each and every concept and its formulas helps you to identify about the mistakes you are doing, while solving the problem. Ensure that you are not repeating the mistakes that you have already done. The more you practice, the better result you get. Taking Mock Tests, Review Tests, and Model Tests helps to improve yourselves while preparing for GATE.
